MINTEMP ERROR

Prusa 3D Printer

Severity: Critical

What Does This Error Mean?

MINTEMP means the printer reads a temperature below the minimum threshold. The thermistor is almost certainly disconnected or broken. Check the thermistor cable and connector on the mainboard.

Affected Models

  • Prusa MK4
  • Prusa MK3S+
  • Prusa Mini+
  • Prusa XL

Common Causes

  • Thermistor cable disconnected from the board
  • Thermistor wire broken from repeated movement
  • Thermistor connector not fully seated
  • Thermistor bead cracked

How to Fix It

  1. Check the thermistor connector on the Einsy/Buddy board.

Open the electronics box and make sure the thermistor plug is firmly seated.

  2. Inspect the thermistor wires for breaks.

Follow the wires from the hotend to the board. Look for damage, especially near the hotend where they flex.

  3. Replace the thermistor if damaged.

Prusa sells replacement thermistors. They are inexpensive and come with clear installation instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy Prusa replacement parts?

Prusa sells all spare parts on their e-shop at prusa3d.com. Thermistors, heater cartridges, and cables are all available individually.

Is MINTEMP always a hardware problem?

Almost always, yes. It means the thermistor circuit is open — either the sensor or its wiring has broken.
