Remote Control Not Working

Daikin Air Conditioner

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

If the Daikin remote is not working, replace the batteries first — AAA batteries lose charge even when not heavily used. Point the remote directly at the indoor unit's receiver (usually under the front cover) and press a button.

Affected Models

  • Daikin Cora Series
  • Daikin Alira X
  • Daikin US7
  • Daikin FTXM Series
  • Daikin Zena

Common Causes

  • Dead or low batteries
  • Signal path between remote and receiver obstructed
  • Remote sensor on indoor unit dirty or blocked
  • Remote in Child Lock mode
  • Remote control hardware failure

How to Fix It

  1. Replace the batteries.

Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote and replace both AAA batteries with fresh ones. Always replace both batteries at the same time — mixing old and new batteries reduces performance. Ensure the batteries are inserted with correct polarity (+/-).

  2. Aim directly at the indoor unit receiver.

The Daikin indoor unit receiver is typically behind the display panel on the front face of the unit. Point the remote directly at the unit from within 8 metres. Do not aim at a reflective surface — direct line of sight is required.

  3. Test the remote with a phone camera.

Open your phone's camera and point the remote at it. Press a button on the remote while watching through the camera screen. If the remote is transmitting, you will see a brief white or purple flash from the infrared LED on the front of the remote.

  4. Clean the indoor unit receiver.

Dust on the indoor unit's IR receiver window can block signals. Gently wipe the small dark receiver panel on the front face of the indoor unit with a dry cloth.

  5. Check for Child Lock on the remote.

Some Daikin remotes have a Child Lock function that disables all buttons. Check the remote display for a lock icon. On most models, hold the Cancel or Lock button for 5 seconds to disable Child Lock.
