Basket Stuck

Cosori Air Fryer

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Cosori air fryer basket stuck is usually caused by suction from the hot chamber after cooking, the handle button latch not releasing, or thermal expansion warping the basket slightly. Wait for the unit to cool, then press and hold the handle release button firmly while pulling the basket straight out.

Affected Models

  • Cosori Pro II 5.8 Qt
  • Cosori Pro Gen 2 5 Qt
  • Cosori Dual Blaze
  • Cosori Smart WiFi Air Fryer
  • Most Cosori air fryer models

Common Causes

  • Thermal suction — hot air inside creates slight negative pressure as the chamber cools
  • Handle release button not fully depressed before pulling
  • Basket warped slightly from overheating — no longer slides freely
  • Food debris in the basket slide channel creating friction
  • Basket inserted off-angle and seated in a slightly tilted position

How to Fix It

  1. Allow the fryer to cool completely.

A basket that is difficult to remove immediately after cooking is often held by slight thermal suction as the chamber cools. Wait 10–15 minutes for the unit to cool and the pressure to equalize. Then try removing the basket again.

  2. Press the handle release button fully.

The Cosori basket handle has a push-button that must be pressed and held while pulling. Press the button at the top of the handle firmly and completely before applying any outward pull. A partial press will not disengage the latch.

  3. Pull straight out — do not angle.

The basket is designed to slide straight out horizontally. Angling the basket while pulling creates binding on the side rails. Apply steady, even horizontal force while holding the release button.

  4. Clean the basket slide channels.

Grease or food debris in the metal slide channels where the basket slides in and out creates friction. With the fryer unplugged and cooled, wipe the inside channel edges of the fryer cavity with a damp cloth. Also clean the outer edges of the basket drawer.

  5. Check basket for warping.

Place the basket on a flat surface. If it rocks or has a visible twist, it is warped from overheating (most commonly caused by running the fryer empty at maximum temperature for extended periods). A warped basket needs replacement — contact Cosori support or purchase a replacement basket.

When to Call a Professional

If the basket is visibly warped and cannot be removed without force, contact Cosori support — using a warped basket can damage the fryer interior.
