Food Not Crispy

Cosori Air Fryer

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Cosori air fryer not making food crispy is almost always caused by overcrowding the basket — when food is piled too deep, steam is trapped and the food steams instead of fries. Cook in a single layer, pat food dry before cooking, and use a light coat of oil spray.

Affected Models

  • Cosori Pro II 5.8 Qt
  • Cosori Pro Gen 2 5 Qt
  • Cosori Dual Blaze
  • Cosori Smart WiFi Air Fryer
  • Most Cosori air fryer models

Common Causes

  • Basket overcrowded — steam trapped prevents crisping
  • Wet food going in — moisture from thawing or rinsing creates steam
  • Temperature too low — needs 190°C+ for most crispy results
  • No oil used — many foods need a light spray to crisp
  • Basket not shaken or flipped — food on the bottom does not get hot air circulation

How to Fix It

  1. Cook in a single layer — never stack food.

Air fryers work by circulating hot air around each piece of food. When food is stacked or overlapping, the pieces in the middle steam rather than fry. For large batches, cook in two or three separate batches.

  2. Pat food dry before cooking.

Moisture on the surface of food turns to steam in the air fryer, which makes food soggy. Pat all food dry with paper towels before placing it in the basket — especially frozen food that has thawed, or rinsed vegetables.

  3. Apply a light coat of oil.

A light spray of oil (vegetable, canola, or avocado oil) on the food surface helps achieve the Maillard reaction that creates crispiness. Avoid too much oil — a thin coat is all that is needed. Use a proper oil mister rather than aerosol sprays, which can damage the basket coating over time.

  4. Increase temperature to 190–200°C.

For crispy results, most foods need at least 190°C (375°F). Frozen foods often need 200°C (400°F) for the first 5 minutes to drive off surface moisture before the crisping begins.

  5. Shake the basket halfway through cooking.

Open the Cosori and shake or flip the food halfway through the cooking time. This ensures all surfaces get direct exposure to the hot circulating air. Skipping this step leaves the bottom side of food soft.

When to Call a Professional

This is a technique issue, not a hardware fault. Cosori air fryers are functioning normally when food requires these adjustments.
