App Not Connecting

Philips Air Fryer

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

The Philips NutriU app connects to smart air fryers via Bluetooth. If the connection fails, turn Bluetooth off and back on on your phone, force-close the NutriU app, and make sure the air fryer is powered on and within 2 metres.

Affected Models

  • Philips HD9255 Connected
  • Philips HD9285 Connected
  • Philips HD9860 Smart
  • Philips HD9875 Smart

Common Causes

  • Bluetooth on the phone is off or the air fryer is out of Bluetooth range
  • NutriU app not updated to the latest version
  • Phone is already connected to too many Bluetooth devices
  • Air fryer not in pairing mode
  • Stale Bluetooth cache on the phone
  • App not granted Bluetooth and location permissions on Android

How to Fix It

  1. Toggle Bluetooth off and back on on your phone, then reopen the NutriU app.

Refreshing Bluetooth forces the phone to scan for nearby devices again and clears stale connection attempts.

  2. Bring your phone within 1-2 metres of the air fryer.

Philips smart air fryers use standard Bluetooth with a practical range of about 5 metres. Walls, microwaves, and Wi-Fi routers reduce this. Start the pairing process with the phone right next to the appliance.

  3. Make sure the NutriU app has Bluetooth and location permissions on your phone.

On Android, Bluetooth Low Energy scanning requires location permission. Go to phone Settings > Apps > NutriU > Permissions and enable Location (required for BLE scanning) and Nearby Devices.

  4. Forget the air fryer in your phone Bluetooth settings and pair from scratch.

Go to phone Settings > Bluetooth, find the Philips air fryer entry, tap Forget. Then open NutriU and follow the pairing steps from the beginning.

  5. Update the NutriU app and the air fryer firmware.

Open the app store and check for a NutriU update. Once connected, the app may prompt you to update the air fryer firmware — install it for the best compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do all Philips air fryers support the NutriU app?

No — only Philips Connected and Smart models support the NutriU app. Standard Philips air fryers are standalone appliances with no app connectivity.

Can I use my Philips air fryer without the app?

Yes. The NutriU app adds recipe guidance and remote monitoring, but the air fryer works fully from its physical controls regardless of app connectivity.
