Not Heating
Philips Air Fryer
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Your Philips air fryer fan is spinning and the display works but no heat is produced. The most common cause is the drawer not being fully seated, which activates a safety cutoff preventing the heating element from turning on. A faulty heating element is the other main cause.
Affected Models
- Philips HD9252
- Philips HD9270
- Philips HD9630
- Philips HD9741 XXL
- Philips HD9860
Common Causes
- Drawer not fully clicked into place — safety cutoff active
- Heating element has failed
- Temperature set too low to feel heat in short test
- Child lock or timer issue preventing heating
- Faulty thermostat
How to Fix It
-
Remove the drawer and reinsert it firmly with a solid push until it clicks.
The heating element only activates when the safety latch is fully engaged. A partially inserted drawer keeps the element off.
-
Set the temperature to maximum (200C / 390F) and run for 3 minutes.
At low temperature settings it can be hard to feel heat. Test at maximum to confirm whether any heat is being produced.
-
Carefully hold your hand 6 inches above the exhaust vent on top — strong hot air should be felt within 2 minutes.
If the air coming out feels room temperature after 3 minutes at max heat, the element is not firing.
-
Unplug for 2 minutes and replug — a power reset can sometimes restore element operation after a fault.
Some protection circuits reset after a full power cycle. Worth trying before contacting support.
When to Call a Professional
If the drawer is fully seated and no heat is produced at any temperature setting, the heating element has failed. Contact Philips support — this is covered under the 2-year Philips warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my Philips air fryer blowing cold air?
Cold air from the exhaust means the heating element is not activating. Check the drawer is fully inserted and the temperature is set above 180C. If it still blows cold at max temperature, the element needs replacement.
How long does a Philips air fryer heating element last?
With normal use, a Philips Airfryer heating element typically lasts 5-8 years. Frequent overloading, cooking very fatty foods without cleaning, or using aerosol sprays shortens element life. Philips authorised service centres can replace the element.
