An Alen BreatheSmart that rattles or has become louder is most commonly caused by the magnetic front panel not sitting flush, a heavily loaded filter restricting airflow, or small debris caught at the air intake. Check the front panel first — even a slight misalignment causes vibration at higher speeds.

Common Causes
- Magnetic front panel is slightly misaligned and vibrating against the housing

How to Fix It

Remove the front panel and reattach it carefully, pressing each corner against its magnet point. Run the unit on high speed to test if the rattle is gone.
The magnet system holds the panel securely when properly aligned, but even slight misalignment lets the panel vibrate freely.

Check when the filter was last replaced. A filter overdue for replacement forces the motor to run harder and louder.
Replace the filter if the pink indicator is on or if the filter is visibly grey and dense.

Inspect the air intake on the back of the unit. Remove any visible debris (hair, dust bunnies) blocking the intake vents.
A strong vacuum with a brush attachment can clear most intake blockages without opening the unit.

Place the unit on a flat, hard surface. Running on thick carpet or an uneven floor amplifies vibration at higher fan speeds.
