WiFi Not Connecting
Alen Air Purifier
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Alen BreatheSmart 45i and 75i support only 2.4 GHz WiFi networks. If your router broadcasts only 5 GHz or uses a combined band with band steering, the purifier may fail to connect. Separate the 2.4 GHz band in your router settings, then follow the in-app pairing steps in the Alen app.
Affected Models
- Alen BreatheSmart 45i
- Alen BreatheSmart 75i
Common Causes
- Router is on 5 GHz only — BreatheSmart requires 2.4 GHz
- Incorrect WiFi password entered during setup
- Phone connected to 5 GHz band during pairing while purifier needs 2.4 GHz
- Alen app needs to be updated
How to Fix It
-
Confirm your router has a 2.4 GHz band enabled. If your router uses band steering (one SSID for both bands), try temporarily splitting them into separate names.
During pairing, your phone and the purifier both need to be on 2.4 GHz. Connect your phone to the 2.4 GHz network before starting the pairing process in the app.
-
Open the Alen app and go to Add Device. Follow the on-screen steps carefully, holding your phone within 1 metre of the purifier.
If a previous pairing attempt failed, remove the device from the app first, then re-add it fresh.
-
If pairing fails, press and hold the WiFi button on the purifier for 5 seconds to reset its network settings, then try pairing again.
The WiFi reset returns the unit to pairing mode (the WiFi indicator will blink).
-
Update the Alen app to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play before retrying.
