Filter Change
Blueair Air Purifier
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Blueair recommends replacing the filter every 6 months. After replacing the filter, reset the filter indicator by pressing and holding the Filter Reset button for 5 seconds (on models with a dedicated button) or by resetting it in the Blueair app. On Blue Pure models, unplug the unit, insert the new filter, plug back in — the timer resets automatically on some models.
Affected Models
- Blueair Blue Pure 211+
- Blueair Blue Pure 411
- Blueair Classic 480i / 605 / 680i
- Blueair HealthProtect 7470i
- Blueair DustMagnet 5440i
Common Causes
- Filter has reached its 6-month rated lifespan based on a runtime timer
- Heavily polluted environment or 24/7 use exhausting the filter faster than average
- Filter indicator not reset after a previous change
How to Fix It
-
Order the correct replacement filter for your Blueair model. Blueair filters are model-specific — a 211+ filter does not fit a 411. Check the model number on the bottom of the machine.
Blueair offers standard particle filters and combination particle+carbon filters. The combination filter is recommended if you want odour and gas filtration in addition to particle capture.
-
Power off and unplug the unit. Remove the old filter (on Blue Pure models, unzip the fabric pre-filter first and slide out the inner filter). Insert the new filter and replace the pre-filter.
The Blue Pure pre-filter (the coloured fabric sleeve) is washable — rinse it and let it air-dry fully before reinstalling.
-
Reset the filter timer. On models with the Blueair app, open the app, go to your purifier settings, and reset the filter timer. On standalone models, hold the filter indicator button for 5 seconds.
Some Blue Pure models reset the timer automatically when they detect a power cycle after a filter change. If automatic reset is not working, use the manual button hold method.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a third-party filter in my Blueair purifier?
Third-party filters are available and can work, but Blueair notes that non-genuine filters may not achieve the same filtration efficiency as certified genuine filters. Blueair genuine filters are certified to specific filtration standards. If air quality is a health priority, use genuine Blueair filters.
