Filter Replacement

IQAir Air Purifier

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

The IQAir HealthPro Plus has three filter stages — PreMax (pre-filter), V5-Cell (gas and odor), and HyperHEPA — each with its own replacement indicator on the digital display. When a stage indicator lights up, replace that specific filter stage and then reset its counter on the unit using the Filter Life Reset menu.

Affected Models

  • IQAir HealthPro Plus
  • IQAir HealthPro Compact
  • IQAir HealthPro 250

Common Causes

  • PreMax pre-filter has reached its rated replacement interval (18 months typical)
  • V5-Cell activated carbon and pelletized chemisorption filter is exhausted
  • HyperHEPA filter has reached its rated service life (24–48 months typical)
  • Filter life counter was not reset after a previous replacement

How to Fix It

  1. Press the JogDial on the unit to wake the display. Navigate to the Filter Life menu. The display shows a percentage for each stage (F1 PreMax, F2 V5-Cell, F3 HyperHEPA). Replace whichever stage is at 0%.

IQAir builds in a generous safety margin — filter life percentages are conservative estimates. Stage F3 (HyperHEPA) typically lasts 24–48 months in average home use.

  2. Lay the unit on its back on a soft surface. Unscrew the four thumbscrews on the bottom access panel and remove the panel to reach the filters.

Label or photograph the filter order before removing them — each stage must go back in the correct position.

  3. Remove the appropriate filter stage and insert the new IQAir replacement filter. Reattach the bottom panel and tighten the thumbscrews.

Only use genuine IQAir replacement filters. Third-party filters do not fit the same dimensions and will leave gaps that bypass the HyperHEPA media.

  4. Use the JogDial to navigate to Filter Life > Reset Filter Life. Select the filter stage you replaced and confirm the reset.

Resetting the wrong stage will cause the display to show incorrect remaining life for both stages. Reset only the stage whose filter was physically replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do IQAir HealthPro filters last?

The PreMax pre-filter typically lasts 12–18 months. The V5-Cell gas-phase filter lasts 18–24 months. The HyperHEPA filter lasts 24–48 months depending on air quality and runtime. IQAir displays each stage percentage so you can plan replacements individually rather than replacing all three at once.
