Loud Noise
IQAir Air Purifier
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
A louder-than-usual IQAir HealthPro is most often caused by loose thumbscrews on the bottom access panel allowing the panel to vibrate, or by a filter stage that is overdue for replacement and restricting airflow. Check and tighten all four thumbscrews, then check the filter life display.
Affected Models
- IQAir HealthPro Plus
- IQAir HealthPro Compact
- IQAir HealthPro 250
Common Causes
- Loose thumbscrews on the bottom access panel allow vibration at higher fan speeds
- One or more filter stages overdue for replacement — restricted airflow makes the motor strain
- Unit is not sitting level on its base
- Debris inside the filter chamber vibrating during operation
How to Fix It
-
Turn the unit off and tighten all four thumbscrews on the bottom panel by hand until snug. Run the unit on a high speed and check if the noise has reduced.
The bottom panel covers a large area and acts as a resonator when loose. Even a small amount of play in the thumbscrews creates noticeable vibration at high fan speed.
-
Check the Filter Life display (navigate with the JogDial). If any stage is at 0%, replace it. A clogged filter forces the motor to work harder and louder.
-
Confirm the unit is standing level on all four rubber feet. Adjust its position if any foot is not in full contact with the floor.
-
Open the bottom panel and visually inspect the filter compartment for any loose objects or debris that may have fallen in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the IQAir HealthPro loud on higher speeds?
The HealthPro Plus reaches about 67 dB at max speed (speed 6) — this is noticeable but typical for a unit with its airflow capacity. Most users run it at speed 2–3 for quiet background operation (35–45 dB) and reserve high speeds for purging the room after cooking or cleaning.
