WiFi Not Connecting

Levoit Air Purifier

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Levoit air purifiers connect to 2.4GHz WiFi only. If your router broadcasts only 5GHz, or combines both bands under one name and the purifier picks the wrong one, the connection will fail. Separate your 2.4GHz network with its own SSID and connect the purifier to that.

Affected Models

  • Levoit Core 300S
  • Levoit Core 400S
  • Levoit Core 600S
  • Levoit EverestAir
  • Levoit Vital 200S

Common Causes

  • Router broadcasting 5GHz only — Levoit requires 2.4GHz
  • WiFi password entered incorrectly during setup
  • Phone too far from the purifier during the setup pairing window
  • VeSync app needs updating
  • Router using WPA3 security — some Levoit models require WPA2

How to Fix It

  1. Confirm your router has an active 2.4GHz network.

Levoit smart purifiers connect only to 2.4GHz WiFi. If your router is in 5GHz-only mode, or has band steering that consistently assigns the purifier to 5GHz, the connection will fail. Enable a dedicated 2.4GHz SSID in your router settings for smart home devices.

  2. Re-run the VeSync setup process from the beginning.

Open the VeSync app > Devices > Add Device > select your purifier model. Stand within 3-5 feet of the purifier and your router during setup. Ensure the purifier is in WiFi pairing mode — most models require a long press of the WiFi button until it flashes.

  3. Double-check the WiFi password.

WiFi passwords are case-sensitive. In the VeSync app, use the Show Password option when entering it to verify every character. A single incorrect character causes setup to fail with a vague connection error.

  4. Set router security to WPA2 if using WPA3.

Some Levoit models do not support WPA3 security. In your router admin settings, change the wireless security mode from WPA3 to WPA2/WPA3 mixed or WPA2 only. This is the fix when all other steps have been tried and setup still fails.

  5. Update the VeSync app and try again.

An outdated VeSync app can fail to complete the device provisioning handshake. Update the app to the latest version in the App Store or Google Play, then retry the device setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Levoit air purifier work without WiFi?

Yes — all Levoit purifiers work fully without a WiFi connection. The physical buttons on the unit control power, fan speed, and modes manually. WiFi and the VeSync app add remote control, scheduling, and air quality monitoring — they are optional features, not required for the purifier to clean the air.

Why does my Levoit show as offline in the VeSync app even though it is running?

A Levoit that runs normally but shows offline in the app has lost its WiFi connection without alerting you. This usually happens after a router restart or a WiFi password change. Check the WiFi indicator on the purifier — if it is flashing rather than solid, the purifier is trying to reconnect. Re-run the setup in the app to re-establish the connection.
