Filter Replacement
Philips Air Purifier
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
The filter replacement indicator on a Philips air purifier lights up when the NanoProtect HEPA filter has reached the end of its service life — typically 12 months at 8 hours of daily use. Replace the filter, then press and hold the Filter Reset button until the light turns off to restart the counter.

- Philips AC2887
- Philips AC3858
- Philips AC4550
- Philips Series 1000i

Common Causes
- NanoProtect HEPA filter has reached its rated service life
- Filter reset was not performed after a previous filter change
- Heavy use or high pollution shortening filter life beyond the estimate
How to Fix It
-
Power off the purifier. Unlock and remove the outer panel by rotating the locking ring counter-clockwise, then lift the filter out.
Filter access varies by model. On the AC1215 the front panel lifts off directly. On the AC2887 and AC3858 the locking ring releases the entire front assembly.
-
Remove the old NanoProtect HEPA filter. Dispose of it — do not attempt to wash it. Unpack the new filter and remove any protective packaging.
Philips NanoProtect filters have a model-specific fit. Check the filter code on your unit (printed on the sticker inside the filter compartment) before purchasing a replacement.
-
Insert the new filter and reassemble the outer panel. Rotate the locking ring clockwise until it clicks firmly.
-
Power on the purifier. Press and hold the Filter Reset button for 3 seconds until the indicator turns off.
On app-connected models (Series 1000i, 2000i, 3000i) you can also reset the filter life from the Philips Air+ app: tap your device, go to Settings, and select Reset filter.
