WiFi Not Connecting

Shark Air Purifier

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Shark air purifiers with CleanSense IQ support only 2.4 GHz WiFi networks — they will not connect to 5 GHz networks. If your router broadcasts both bands under the same network name, temporarily separate them in your router settings or move the purifier closer to the router. After fixing the network, open the SharkClean app, tap Add Device, and follow the pairing steps.

Affected Models

  • Shark HP200
  • Shark HP201
  • Shark HP300
  • Shark HP301

Common Causes

  • Router is broadcasting on 5 GHz only — Shark purifiers require 2.4 GHz
  • Incorrect WiFi password entered during setup
  • Purifier is too far from the router for a stable connection
  • SharkClean app needs updating

How to Fix It

  1. Confirm your router has a 2.4 GHz band enabled. Log in to your router settings and check the wireless bands. If only 5 GHz is active, enable 2.4 GHz.

Most modern routers broadcast both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. If they share the same SSID (network name), your phone may connect to 5 GHz while the purifier cannot join. Creating a separate 2.4 GHz network name makes this reliable.

  2. In the SharkClean app, go to Settings and remove the purifier from your account. Then tap Add Device and follow the in-app pairing instructions from the start.

Re-pairing from scratch is more reliable than trying to reconnect a device that was previously added.

  3. During pairing, hold your phone within 1 metre of the purifier and the router. Enter the WiFi password carefully — passwords are case-sensitive.

If pairing fails after 3 attempts, restart both the purifier and your phone, then try again.

  4. Update the SharkClean app to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. Older versions can have connection bugs fixed in newer releases.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Shark purifier was connected and then dropped off the WiFi — how do I reconnect it?

If the purifier lost its WiFi connection (for example after a router change or password update), open the SharkClean app, go to the device settings, and tap Reconnect or Re-pair. You will need to enter the new network name or password if it changed.
