WiFi Not Connecting
Xiaomi Air Purifier
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Xiaomi air purifiers support only 2.4 GHz WiFi networks. If your router is on 5 GHz only or uses band steering, the purifier will not appear in the Mi Home app. Enable 2.4 GHz on your router, connect your phone to it, and then add the purifier in the Mi Home app.
Affected Models
- Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4
- Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 Lite
- Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3H
- Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3C
Common Causes
- Router is on 5 GHz only — Xiaomi purifiers require 2.4 GHz
- Phone is connected to 5 GHz during pairing while the purifier needs 2.4 GHz
- Incorrect WiFi password entered
- Mi Home app region setting does not match your account region
How to Fix It
-
Check your router settings and confirm the 2.4 GHz band is enabled. If both bands share the same network name (SSID), create a separate name for 2.4 GHz temporarily.
During pairing your phone must also be on 2.4 GHz. Go to your phone WiFi settings and manually connect to the 2.4 GHz network before opening the Mi Home app.
-
Open the Mi Home app. Tap the + icon to add a device. Select Air Purifiers from the category list and choose your specific model.
-
When prompted, press and hold the button on the purifier for 5 seconds until the WiFi indicator flashes rapidly, indicating it is in pairing mode.
On Mi Air Purifier 4 models, hold the multi-function button on the top panel for 5 seconds. On older 3H models, hold the power button for 5 seconds.
-
Enter your WiFi password in the Mi Home app and wait for the connection to complete. Keep your phone near the purifier during this step.
If pairing times out, restart the purifier, repeat the pairing mode reset, and try again. Avoid special characters in your WiFi password — they can cause pairing failures on some firmware versions.
Frequently Asked Questions
My Xiaomi purifier was connected but disappeared from Mi Home — how do I fix it?
If the purifier dropped off the app (for example after a router or password change), press and hold the button for 5 seconds to re-enter pairing mode, then add the device again in Mi Home. You do not need to delete your Mi Home account — just re-add the device.
