E29

Bosch Dryer

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

E29 on a Bosch condenser or heat pump dryer means the water container (also called the condensate drawer) is full. The dryer pauses and will not continue until the container is emptied. Empty the container and the dryer resumes automatically.

Affected Models

  • Bosch WTW87565GB
  • Bosch WTH84000GB
  • Bosch WQB145B0GB
  • Bosch Serie 6 and Serie 8 Condenser Dryers
  • Bosch Heat Pump Dryers

Common Causes

  • Water container full — the dryer has extracted its maximum water capacity
  • Water container not fully inserted — float sensor activated prematurely
  • Condensate pump blocked or faulty (on models with drain hose option)
  • Float sensor in the container stuck in the full position

How to Fix It

  1. Pull out the water container and empty it.

The container is usually located in the top left or bottom area of the dryer. Pull it out carefully — it is full of water. Empty it into a sink and replace it firmly.

  2. Push the water container back in firmly until it clicks.

A container that is not fully seated activates the full sensor even when empty. Push firmly until you feel or hear it click into position.

  3. Restart the drying cycle.

E29 clears automatically once the container is empty and correctly seated. You do not need to reset the dryer manually.

  4. Consider connecting to a permanent drain.

Most Bosch condenser dryers can be connected to a drain hose so the condensate drains automatically. Check your user manual for the drain hose option — this eliminates E29 entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much water does a Bosch dryer collect per cycle?

A typical load of 7-8 kg of laundry produces approximately 4-5 litres of condensed water. The water container on most Bosch models holds around 4-5 litres, so it often needs emptying after every 1-2 loads.

Can I use the water collected in the Bosch dryer container?

Yes — the condensed water is distilled and can be used in steam irons. It is free of limescale and ideal for appliances that require demineralised water.
