E15
Bosch Oven
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
E15 on a Bosch oven means there is a fault with the meat probe (the plug-in food thermometer). This is usually caused by the meat probe not being properly connected, or the probe socket inside the oven being dirty. If you are not using the meat probe, remove it and E15 will clear.
Affected Models
- Bosch HBG Series (with meat probe)
- Bosch HBA Series (with meat probe)
- Bosch Series 6 and 8 Built-In Ovens with probe socket
Common Causes
- Meat probe inserted but not making proper contact in the socket
- Meat probe socket inside the oven contaminated with grease or food residue
- Meat probe cable damaged or probe tip faulty
- Oven expecting a probe reading but no probe is connected
- Wrong probe inserted — using a non-Bosch probe in a Bosch socket
How to Fix It
-
If you are not using the meat probe, remove it from the socket.
E15 clears immediately when the probe is unplugged. If E15 appears without a probe inserted, clean the probe socket.
-
Clean the meat probe socket inside the oven.
Use a cotton bud lightly dampened with water to clean inside the probe socket. Grease in the socket creates a false connection and triggers E15.
-
If using the probe, remove it and reinsert it firmly.
Push the probe jack fully into the socket until it stops. A partial connection causes E15.
-
If the probe itself is damaged, replace it.
Bosch meat probes are available as accessories. Use only genuine Bosch probes for compatibility.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the oven without the meat probe if E15 appears?
Yes. Remove the meat probe from the socket and E15 will clear. All normal cooking functions work without the meat probe.
Where is the meat probe socket on a Bosch oven?
On most Bosch models, the meat probe socket is inside the oven cavity on the left side wall, roughly halfway up. It is a small round socket with a cover that snaps open when you insert the probe.
