E10
Electrolux Washing Machine
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Electrolux E10 means the machine is not filling with enough water within the expected time. The most common causes are the water supply tap turned off, a kinked inlet hose, or a blocked inlet filter.
Affected Models
- Electrolux EWF series
- Electrolux EWS series
- Electrolux EWT series
- Electrolux front-load washing machines
Common Causes
- Water supply tap turned off or only partially open
- Inlet hose kinked or crushed
- Inlet filter screen blocked with sediment
- Water pressure too low from the supply
- Inlet valve solenoid failed electrically
- Cold water only connected — machine requires both hot and cold on dual-inlet models
How to Fix It
-
Check the water supply tap.
The tap connecting the washing machine to the water supply is usually behind the machine or under the sink. Make sure it is fully open (turned anti-clockwise as far as it will go). A partially open tap restricts flow and triggers E10 even though water is present.
-
Check the inlet hose for kinks.
Pull the machine forward slightly and inspect the blue or grey hose that connects from the wall tap to the back of the machine. Straighten any kinks. Also check that the machine has not been pushed back against the hose, crushing it.
-
Clean the inlet filter screen.
Turn off the water supply tap. Unscrew the inlet hose from the back of the machine (have a towel ready — water will drip). Inside the connection point on the machine you will see a small mesh filter screen. Rinse it under the tap to clear any sediment, then reattach the hose firmly.
-
Check household water pressure.
Turn on a cold water tap in a nearby sink and observe the pressure. Very low pressure (barely a trickle) means the household supply is restricted — perhaps a mains stopcock is partially closed, or there is a supply issue in your area. Electrolux washers require minimum 0.05 MPa (0.5 bar) water pressure.
-
Test the inlet valve.
If all of the above are fine and E10 persists, the water inlet valve solenoid has likely failed. You can test by listening for a clicking/buzzing sound at the back of the machine when a cycle starts — that is the valve attempting to open. No sound indicates electrical failure. Inlet valve replacement costs £20–£60 and requires disconnecting the machine from water and electricity.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does E10 mean on an Electrolux washing machine?
E10 is a water intake error — the machine started a cycle but could not fill with water fast enough. The three most common causes are a closed water supply tap, a kinked inlet hose, and a blocked inlet filter mesh. All three can be checked and fixed in under 10 minutes without any tools.
