nDr

LG Washing Machine

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

The nDr error means your LG washer is not draining. This appears on some LG top-load models. Water is stuck in the drum and the drain cycle failed.

Affected Models

  • WT7300CW
  • WT7800CW
  • WT6060V
  • LG top-load washers

Common Causes

  • Clogged drain pump filter
  • Blocked or kinked drain hose
  • Drain hose end pushed too deep into the standpipe causing a siphon
  • Faulty drain pump unable to expel water
  • Excessive suds from too much detergent blocking the drain

How to Fix It

  1. Turn off and unplug the washer immediately.

Water may still be in the drum. Do not tip the machine.

  2. Locate the drain hose at the back of the washer.

Check for kinks, sharp bends, or blockages along the entire length.

  3. Make sure the drain hose end is not pushed more than 6–8 inches into the standpipe.

If it's pushed in too far, it creates a siphon effect that prevents draining.

  4. On models with an accessible filter, clean the drain pump filter.

Check your model's manual to see if your washer has an accessible filter.

  5. Select the Spin Only cycle to attempt draining.

Watch and listen for the pump running. Silence means the pump may be faulty.

When to Call a Professional

If all hoses and filters are clear and the error persists — the drain pump is likely faulty. A pump replacement costs $100–$230 with labor. Contact LG support or a certified technician for diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

What LG washer models show the nDr error?

The nDr code mainly appears on LG top-load washers. Front-load models typically show OE for the same drain issue. Check your model number to confirm.

Can too much detergent cause the nDr error?

Yes. Excess suds can clog the drain and trigger nDr. Always use HE-rated detergent in the correct amount. Run an extra rinse cycle if you suspect too many suds.

Can I manually drain my LG top-load washer?

Yes. Place a bucket under the drain hose at the back. Remove the hose from the standpipe and let it drain by gravity. This empties the drum so you can safely investigate.
