F13

Miele Dishwasher

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

F13 points to the Aqua Sensor — a turbidity sensor that measures how dirty the water is. Dishes still wash normally on most programmes. The sensor may just need cleaning.

Affected Models

  • Miele G4000
  • Miele G5000
  • Miele G6000
  • Miele G7000
  • Miele G5310
  • Miele G7310

Common Causes

  • Aqua Sensor lens coated with grease or limescale
  • Sensor wiring connector loose
  • Sensor failed (needs replacement)
  • Control board fault (rare)

How to Fix It

  1. Run a hot wash with dishwasher cleaner or citric acid.

A grease or limescale coating on the Aqua Sensor lens is the most common cause. A hot cleaning cycle often restores normal operation.

  2. Reset the machine.

Turn off at the mains for 2 minutes. Restart and run a test cycle.

  3. Locate and inspect the Aqua Sensor (engineer required).

The sensor sits in the sump area at the bottom of the tub. An engineer can remove it, clean the lens manually, and test its output.

  4. Replace the Aqua Sensor if it has failed.

If cleaning does not clear F13, the sensor itself has failed. It is a small component but usually requires partial disassembly of the base.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep using the dishwasher with F13?

Usually yes. When the Aqua Sensor fails, the machine typically defaults to the highest wash intensity for safety. Your dishes will be clean — but the machine may use slightly more water and energy than usual.
