Error 119

Samsung Smart TV

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Error 119 means your Samsung TV cannot find the Wi-Fi network it was previously connected to. The network may have changed its name, the router may be offline, or the signal may not be reaching the TV. Restarting the router and refreshing the TV's network scan usually resolves Error 119.

Affected Models

  • Samsung QLED Q80B
  • Samsung Crystal UHD AU8000
  • Samsung Frame TV
  • Samsung Neo QLED QN85B
  • Samsung Lifestyle TV The Serif

Common Causes

  • The router was restarted and is taking time to fully rebroadcast its Wi-Fi signal
  • The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) was changed on the router after the TV saved it
  • The router is offline or has lost power
  • The TV is too far from the router or obstacles are blocking the signal
  • The router changed from broadcasting on 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz (or vice versa) after a settings change

How to Fix It

  1. Check whether the router's Wi-Fi LED is lit — if not, the router may be offline or the Wi-Fi radio may be disabled.

Some routers have a physical Wi-Fi on/off button that can accidentally be pressed — check for this.

  2. Restart the router by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait 2 minutes.

After restarting, the router may take 1–2 minutes to fully rebroadcast the Wi-Fi signal.

  3. On the TV, go to Settings > General > Network > Open Network Settings and scan for available networks.

Scanning forces the TV to search for networks again rather than relying on its cached network list.

  4. If your network name (SSID) was recently changed, select the new network name from the list and enter the password.

The TV remembers the old network name — once the name changes, the TV cannot automatically find it.

  5. Move the TV or router closer together temporarily and scan again to rule out signal distance as the cause.

If the network appears when closer, consider a Wi-Fi extender or powerline adapter for the TV's permanent location.

  6. If no networks appear at all, go to Settings > General > Network > Reset Network and retry the scan.

A network reset clears any corrupted scan data and starts the Wi-Fi detection process fresh.

When to Call a Professional

Contact your ISP if the router is online but still not broadcasting a visible Wi-Fi signal. Samsung Support can help if the TV fails to detect any networks at all, which may indicate a hardware issue. A network technician can check whether the router's Wi-Fi radio is functioning correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can my phone see the Wi-Fi network but my Samsung TV cannot?

Phones have more powerful Wi-Fi antennas than TVs and can detect weaker signals from greater distances. The TV may be at the edge of the router's coverage range where the signal is too weak to reliably detect. Try moving the TV closer to the router, or add a Wi-Fi extender between them.

Can changing my router's Wi-Fi channel cause Error 119?

In rare cases, yes — some older Samsung TV models do not support all Wi-Fi channels. If you recently changed your router's channel and the TV stopped seeing the network, try switching the router back. Channels 1, 6, and 11 on 2.4 GHz are universally supported by all Wi-Fi devices.

What does it mean if my Samsung TV says no wireless networks found at all?

If the TV sees absolutely no networks — not even neighbors' networks — the TV's Wi-Fi adapter may have a problem. First try a full network reset and restart the TV. If no networks still appear, contact Samsung Support as the Wi-Fi hardware may need inspection.
