UE

Samsung Washing Machine

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

UE on a Samsung washing machine means the load is unbalanced and the machine has stopped the spin cycle to prevent damage. Open the door, redistribute the laundry evenly around the drum, and restart the spin.

Affected Models

  • Samsung WF45R
  • Samsung WA50R
  • Samsung WF42H
  • Samsung WF56H
  • Samsung AddWash series

Common Causes

  • Single large item (duvet, towel) bunched on one side of the drum
  • Washing one or two very small items — too little weight to balance
  • Machine not level — uneven floor causing imbalance detection
  • Overloaded drum with too much laundry
  • Laundry tangled together in a clump

How to Fix It

  1. Open the door and manually redistribute the laundry around the drum.

Pull apart tangled items and spread them evenly. Large items like duvets should be teamed with smaller items to help balance the load.

  2. If washing one large item, add 1-2 towels to help balance the load.

A single duvet or heavy item will always cause UE. Adding a couple of towels creates counterweight and allows the spin cycle to complete.

  3. Check that all four feet are touching the floor and the machine is level.

Place a spirit level on top of the machine. Adjust the front feet by turning them clockwise to lower or counter-clockwise to raise. Tighten the lock nuts after adjusting.

  4. Reduce the load size and restart the cycle.

An overloaded drum cannot balance properly. Remove 20-30% of the items and run them in a separate cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is UE the same as E4 on Samsung washers?

Yes — older Samsung models display E4 while newer models display UE for the same unbalanced load error. The fix is identical: redistribute the laundry and restart the spin.

Why does my Samsung washer always show UE on the final spin?

Consistently getting UE on the final spin suggests the machine is not level. The high-speed spin (1000-1400 RPM) amplifies any existing imbalance. Check and re-level all four feet.
