Blurry Display

Sony PSVR2

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

A blurry PSVR2 image is almost always a fitting issue — the lenses aren't aligned with your eyes. Adjust the scope adjustment dial and interpupillary distance (IPD) until the image is sharp.

Affected Models

  • PlayStation VR2

Common Causes

  • Lens-to-eye distance not adjusted for your face (scope adjustment dial)
  • IPD (interpupillary distance) not set to match your eyes
  • Headset sitting too high or low on the face
  • Dirty or smudged lenses
  • Wearing glasses with incompatible frames

How to Fix It

  1. Adjust the scope adjustment dial.

The dial on the bottom of the PSVR2 moves the lenses closer or further from your eyes. Rotate it while wearing the headset until the image is sharpest. Everyone needs a different setting.

  2. Adjust the IPD (interpupillary distance).

IPD is the distance between your pupils. PSVR2 has a physical IPD adjustment dial on the bottom of the headset (range: 58–72mm). Look at a sharp text element and adjust until it looks clearest.

  3. Position the headset correctly on your face.

The lenses should be directly in front of your pupils. If the headset slides down your nose, the image blurs. Tighten the head strap to keep it in position.

  4. Clean the lenses.

Use only the included microfibre cloth — no liquids. Wipe gently in circular motions from centre outward. Fingerprints and skin oils cause significant blurring.

  5. Use the PSVR2 lens spacer if you wear glasses.

The PSVR2 includes a glasses spacer in the box that creates more room for glasses frames. Without it, glasses wearers get the lenses too close to their eyes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is blurriness at the edges of the PSVR2 image normal?

Yes — all current VR headsets have a "sweet spot" where the image is sharpest at the centre, with some softness towards the edges. This is a lens design limitation, not a fault. Proper IPD and scope adjustment minimises it.
