Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
PSVR2 recentering fails when tracking cameras cannot lock onto the play area or Sense controllers. Improve room lighting, clear the play area, and hold the Options button on either Sense controller for 1 second to trigger a recenter.

- Reflective surfaces or mirrors in the play area confusing the tracking system
- Sense controllers out of the headset camera view during the recenter press
- Eye tracking calibration off — affecting where the centered view is placed
- Software glitch requiring a full PSVR2 play area setup reset
How to Fix It

Hold Options for 1 second to recenter.
To recenter the view during play, hold the Options button on either Sense controller for approximately 1 second. A short tap only opens the pause menu — a held press triggers the recenter. Do this while facing the direction you want to be the forward direction in VR.

Improve lighting in the play area.
PSVR2 uses inside-out tracking cameras that require adequate ambient light to map the room. Turn on overhead lights or add a lamp near the play area. Very dark environments or very bright direct sunlight on the cameras both degrade tracking quality.

Remove reflective surfaces from the play area.
Large mirrors, glass table tops, and TV screens facing the cameras confuse the PSVR2 tracking system. Cover or reposition mirrors near the play area. Also ensure the Sense controllers are visible to the headset cameras during the recenter press.

Run the Eye Tracking Setup.
Go to PS5 Settings > Accessories > PlayStation VR2 > Eye Tracking Setup. Run the full calibration including IPD (interpupillary distance) adjustment. Misaligned eye tracking causes the centered view to feel off even after a technically successful recenter.

Redo the Play Area Setup.
Go to PS5 Settings > Accessories > PlayStation VR2 > Setup Play Area. Complete the full room setup from scratch. If tracking has drifted significantly from the original calibration (furniture moved, lighting changed), a fresh setup is the most reliable fix.

Tracking and recentering are software and camera functions — no hardware repair is needed for this issue. Contact Sony only if the tracking cameras appear physically scratched or damaged.
