Camera Not Connecting

Arlo Baby Monitor (Camera)

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Arlo Baby Camera Not Connecting means the camera cannot connect to your Wi-Fi network or the Arlo app cannot reach the camera. Check your Wi-Fi, make sure the camera is on 2.4 GHz, and restart both the camera and router.

Affected Models

  • Arlo Baby (ABC1000)

Common Causes

  • Camera on 5 GHz Wi-Fi (Arlo Baby only supports 2.4 GHz)
  • Wi-Fi password changed and camera has the old one
  • Router too far from the camera
  • Arlo servers experiencing issues
  • Camera firmware needs updating

How to Fix It

  1. Make sure your Wi-Fi is on the 2.4 GHz band.

The Arlo Baby only connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, not 5 GHz. If your router combines both bands, you may need to separate them or create a 2.4 GHz-only SSID.

  2. Restart the camera by unplugging it for 10 seconds.

A restart clears connection errors and forces a fresh Wi-Fi connection.

  3. Restart your Wi-Fi router.

Router issues are a common cause. Unplug the router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

  4. Re-setup the camera in the Arlo app.

If the camera will not reconnect, remove it from the app and add it again as a new device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Arlo Baby need the Arlo base station?

No. The Arlo Baby connects directly to Wi-Fi — it does not need an Arlo base station. This is different from other Arlo cameras.

Can I use the Arlo Baby without internet?

No. The Arlo Baby requires internet to stream video through the Arlo cloud. It does not work without an internet connection.
