Fuzzy / Blurry Picture

Infant Optics Baby Monitor

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

A fuzzy or blurry picture on the Infant Optics DXR-8 is usually caused by a dirty lens, wrong lens selection, or the camera being too close to the crib. Clean the lens and adjust the camera position.

Affected Models

  • Infant Optics DXR-8
  • Infant Optics DXR-8 Pro

Common Causes

  • Camera lens is dirty or has fingerprints
  • Wrong interchangeable lens installed for the distance
  • Camera too close to the subject (minimum focus distance)
  • Night vision IR LEDs reflecting off nearby surfaces
  • Parent unit screen dirty

How to Fix It

  1. Clean the camera lens with a soft dry cloth.

Fingerprints and dust on the lens cause blurriness. Gently wipe the lens — do not use liquid cleaners.

  2. Check which lens is installed.

The DXR-8 comes with a normal lens. The optional wide-angle lens and zoom lens have different focus ranges. Use the normal lens for typical crib-to-wall distances (3-6 feet).

  3. Move the camera further from the crib.

If the camera is too close, it cannot focus properly. Place it at least 3 feet from the baby.

  4. Clean the parent unit screen.

Sometimes the blurriness is on the screen, not the camera. Wipe the parent unit display with a soft cloth.
