Won't Turn On

Infant Optics Baby Monitor

Severity: Critical

What Does This Error Mean?

If the Infant Optics DXR-8 parent unit will not turn on, the battery may be completely dead. Plug it in and charge for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on. If it still will not power on, the battery may need replacement.

Affected Models

  • Infant Optics DXR-8
  • Infant Optics DXR-8 Pro

Common Causes

  • Battery completely depleted — needs extended charging
  • Charging cable or adapter faulty
  • Battery has degraded beyond recovery
  • Power button stuck or unresponsive
  • Internal circuit board failure (rare)

How to Fix It

  1. Plug in the parent unit and charge for at least 30 minutes.

A completely dead battery may not show any signs of life immediately. Leave it plugged in for 30 minutes, then try the power button.

  2. Try a different charging cable and adapter.

The cable or adapter may have failed. Use a compatible micro-USB cable and a 5V 1A adapter.

  3. Hold the power button for 5 seconds.

A long press may be needed if the unit froze in a low-power state.

  4. Replace the rechargeable battery.

The DXR-8 uses a replaceable lithium-polymer battery. After 2-3 years of daily use, the battery may no longer hold a charge. Replacement batteries are available online.
