- Screen in power-saving mode (normal — audio still active)
- Parent unit battery depleted
- Brightness set to minimum
- Parent unit powered off
- Display hardware failure
How to Fix It
-
Press any button to wake the screen from power-saving mode.
Many Motorola monitors dim or turn off the screen after a few minutes to save battery. Audio monitoring continues even with the screen off.
-
Plug in the parent unit to charge.
If the battery is completely dead, the screen will be blank. Plug it in and wait a few minutes before trying to power it on.
-
Increase the screen brightness.
If brightness is at minimum, the screen appears blank. Use the brightness buttons to increase it.
-
Hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn the unit on.
A quick press may not be enough. Hold the power button for a full 3 seconds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does audio still work when the screen is off?
Yes. Most Motorola monitors have VOX mode where the screen turns off but audio monitoring continues. The screen activates when sound is detected.
What is VOX mode?
VOX (Voice-Operated Exchange) turns the screen off during silence to save battery. When the baby makes a sound above the set threshold, the screen turns back on automatically.
