Cannot Connect to Camera

Nanit Baby Monitor (Camera)

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Cannot Connect means the Nanit app on your phone cannot reach the camera's video feed. Your phone may be on a different network, the camera may be offline, or the Nanit cloud service may be having issues. Check both the camera and your phone's internet connection.

Affected Models

  • Nanit Pro
  • Nanit Plus

Common Causes

  • Phone is on a different Wi-Fi network or on mobile data with weak signal
  • Camera is offline (check camera LED)
  • Nanit cloud service is experiencing issues
  • App needs updating
  • Phone's internet connection is too slow for video streaming

How to Fix It

  1. Check that the camera is online (LED indicator on).

If the camera LED is off, it has lost power or Wi-Fi. Fix the camera first.

  2. Check your phone's internet connection.

Try loading a website on your phone. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to test.

  3. Force-close the Nanit app and reopen it.

Swipe the app away from the recent apps list, then reopen. This resets the connection.

  4. Update the Nanit app to the latest version.

Check the App Store or Google Play for updates. Older app versions may have connection bugs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I watch the Nanit from anywhere?

Yes. The Nanit streams through the cloud, so you can watch from anywhere with an internet connection. But both the camera (via Wi-Fi) and your phone (via Wi-Fi or mobile data) need internet.

Does the Nanit work without internet?

No. The Nanit requires internet to stream video, even on the same local network. If your internet goes down, you lose the video feed.
