Camera Offline

Nanit Baby Monitor (Camera)

Severity: Critical

What Does This Error Mean?

Camera Offline means the Nanit camera lost its Wi-Fi connection and you cannot see the video feed. The most common causes are Wi-Fi dropouts, router issues, or the camera losing power. Check power and Wi-Fi, then restart the camera.

Affected Models

  • Nanit Pro
  • Nanit Plus
  • Nanit Pro Camera with Flex Stand

Common Causes

  • Wi-Fi network went down
  • Camera unplugged or power adapter disconnected
  • Router too far from the camera — weak signal
  • Wi-Fi password changed
  • Router switched to a different channel or band

How to Fix It

  1. Check that the camera is plugged in and the light is on.

The camera shows a small LED when powered. If no light, check the power cable and adapter.

  2. Check your Wi-Fi — try loading a website on your phone.

If your Wi-Fi is down, the camera cannot connect. Restart your router.

  3. Unplug the camera for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

A restart reconnects to Wi-Fi and resolves most offline issues.

  4. Make sure the camera is on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.

The Nanit only works on 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz. If your router combines both bands, make sure 2.4 GHz is available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still hear my baby when the camera is offline?

No. When the camera is offline, both video and audio are unavailable in the app. Consider having a backup audio monitor for situations when Wi-Fi goes down.

Does the Nanit record when offline?

No. The Nanit streams to the cloud — it does not record locally. When offline, no video is captured or saved.
