Sock Not Charging

Owlet Baby Monitor (Smart Sock)

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

If the Owlet sock is not charging when placed on the base station, the charging contacts may be dirty, the sock may not be properly seated, or the base station cable may be loose. Clean the contacts and make sure the sock sits flat on the charging pad.

Affected Models

  • Owlet Smart Sock 3
  • Owlet Dream Sock
  • Owlet Smart Sock 2

Common Causes

  • Charging contacts on the sock or base station are dirty
  • Sock not properly aligned on the charging pad
  • Base station power cable loose or disconnected
  • Base station USB port or cable faulty
  • Sock battery has reached end of life

How to Fix It

  1. Clean the charging contacts on both the sock and the base station.

Use a slightly damp cloth to wipe the metal contacts on the sock sensor and the base station charging pad. Dry completely before placing the sock back.

  2. Make sure the sock is properly seated on the base station.

The sock sensor must sit flat on the charging pad with the contacts aligned. You should see a charging indicator light.

  3. Check the base station power cable.

Make sure the USB cable is firmly plugged into both the base station and the wall adapter. Try a different USB cable if available.

  4. Try a different power outlet.

The outlet may not be providing power (switched off, tripped breaker).

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know the sock is charging?

When charging, the base station shows a pulsing green light. When fully charged, the light turns solid green. No light means it is not charging.

How long does the sock take to fully charge?

About 90 minutes from empty to full. A full charge provides 16-18 hours of monitoring.
