Range ERROR

Casio Casio Calculator

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Range ERROR means the graphing window or table range settings are invalid. The start value may be greater than the end value, or the step is zero. Check your View Window settings.

Affected Models

  • Casio fx-CG50
  • Casio fx-9860GII
  • Casio fx-9750GIII
  • Casio graphing calculators

Common Causes

  • Xmin >= Xmax in the View Window
  • Table start >= table end
  • Step value set to zero
  • Scale set to zero or negative

How to Fix It

  1. Press SHIFT+F3 (V-Window) and check settings.

Make sure Xmin < Xmax and Ymin < Ymax. Scale values must be positive.

  2. Use SHIFT+F3 > INIT to reset to default window.

This resets the viewing window to standard values.

  3. For tables: check Start, End, and Step values.

Start must be less than End. Step must be positive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the default View Window values?

Typically Xmin=-6.3, Xmax=6.3, Ymin=-3.1, Ymax=3.1. These match the screen's pixel ratio for undistorted graphs.

Can I zoom in on a graph?

Yes. Use ZOOM functions (F2 in Graph mode) to zoom in/out. Or manually change the View Window values.
