Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Service A and Service B are Mercedes's scheduled maintenance intervals. Service A is a minor service (oil change + inspection). Service B is a major service (oil + filters + brakes + more). They alternate roughly every 10,000 miles.

Affected Models

  • Mercedes C-Class
  • Mercedes E-Class
  • Mercedes GLC
  • Mercedes GLE
  • Mercedes A-Class
  • All Mercedes models (2009+)

Common Causes

  • Mileage or time-based interval reached
  • Service not reset after the last maintenance

How to Fix It

  1. Schedule the appropriate service.

Service A: oil change, oil filter, fluid checks, tire inspection. Service B: everything in A plus cabin filter, brake inspection, and additional checks.

  2. After service: reset the indicator.

Use the steering wheel buttons: 1. Go to Service menu in the instrument cluster. 2. Select the service item. 3. Hold OK for 3 seconds to reset. Or the technician resets it with Star Diagnostic.

  3. You can service at an independent shop.

You do not need to go to the dealer. Any qualified mechanic can perform Service A/B. Using an independent shop saves 30-50%.
