Iced Coffee Not Working / Iced Button Not Available

Keurig Coffee Maker

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

The Keurig Iced button brews a hotter, more concentrated shot — it does not cool the coffee before it leaves the machine. Fill a glass to the brim with ice first, select the Iced setting, and choose the 8 oz cup size for the correct strength.

Affected Models

  • Keurig K-Elite
  • Keurig K-Supreme
  • Keurig K-Supreme Plus
  • Keurig K-Café
  • Keurig K-Iced

Common Causes

  • Glass not filled with enough ice — hot concentrate has nothing to chill against
  • Selecting 10 oz or 12 oz cup size, which over-dilutes the iced coffee concentrate
  • Iced button not available on older or basic Keurig models
  • Using a regular K-Cup when Over Ice or Iced varieties would give better results
  • Expecting cold coffee to come out of the machine — Keurig does not have a chiller

How to Fix It

  1. Fill the glass to the brim with ice first.

The Keurig Iced button brews hotter than normal to compensate for the ice — the coffee chills on contact with the ice, not inside the machine. Fill the glass completely with ice before placing it under the brewer. A glass that is only half full will not chill the hot concentrate enough.

  2. Select the 8 oz cup size for iced coffee.

With the Iced button activated, select the 8 oz (smallest) cup size. A larger size dilutes the concentrate too much and produces weak, watery iced coffee. The 8 oz concentrated brew over a full glass of ice gives the correct flavor balance.

  3. Use an Over Ice K-Cup variety.

Several coffee brands sell K-Cups specifically labeled Over Ice or Iced. These blends are roasted and formulated to taste best at cold serving temperature, compensating for slight ice melt dilution. Regular K-Cups work too, but Iced varieties produce a noticeably better result.

  4. Confirm your Keurig model has the Iced button.

The Iced button is available on the K-Elite, K-Supreme, K-Supreme Plus, K-Café, and K-Iced models. Basic models like the K-Classic and K-Mini do not have this feature. On those models, brew at the 6 oz setting over a full glass of ice for a similar result.

  5. Combine Strong and Iced for a bolder result.

On models that support both buttons, press Strong and then Iced before selecting your cup size. The Strong + Iced combination brews an even more concentrated shot, producing a bolder iced coffee flavor. This is the closest a Keurig can get to a cold-brew-style iced coffee.

When to Call a Professional

The Iced function is a software and settings feature — no hardware repair is needed. Contact Keurig support if the Iced button is missing from a model that is supposed to have it.
