Connection Lost

Parrot Drone

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Connection Lost means the FreeFlight 6 app has lost communication with the drone. The drone will hover in place (if GPS is active) or execute its failsafe behaviour. Move closer to the drone and check Wi-Fi/controller connection.

Affected Models

  • Parrot Bebop 2
  • Parrot Bebop 2 Power
  • Parrot Anafi
  • Parrot Anafi USA

Common Causes

  • Drone flew beyond Wi-Fi range (Bebop 2 uses Wi-Fi directly)
  • Skycontroller 3 battery depleted
  • Phone's Wi-Fi switched to a different network mid-flight
  • Physical obstruction (building, hill) blocking signal
  • RF interference from other devices

How to Fix It

  1. Do not panic — the drone will hover and wait.

Parrot drones are programmed to hover in place when connection is lost (if GPS is active). You have time to restore the connection.

  2. Move closer to the drone.

Range is the most common cause. Bebop 2 (direct Wi-Fi) has approximately 300m range. With Skycontroller 3, range extends to 4km.

  3. Check your phone's Wi-Fi is still connected to the drone network.

Android and iOS sometimes auto-switch to a stronger nearby Wi-Fi. Pull down the notification bar and confirm the drone's network is selected.

  4. Check Skycontroller 3 battery level.

A depleted controller battery causes signal loss. Charge the Skycontroller fully before each flight.

  5. Set up Return to Home in FreeFlight 6 before every flight.

Configure what happens on connection loss: hover, land, or return to home. Return to Home is the safest option for most flying situations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Parrot Anafi do on connection loss by default?

By default, the Anafi hovers in place for a set time (configurable in FreeFlight 6), then executes the chosen failsafe action — hover, land, or return to home. Always configure Return to Home before flying over water or beyond visual line of sight.
