Motor Error

Parrot Drone

Severity: Critical

What Does This Error Mean?

Motor Error means one of the four motors has stalled, is drawing too much current, or isn't responding. Do not fly. Inspect the propellers and motors before attempting flight.

Affected Models

  • Parrot Bebop 2
  • Parrot Bebop 2 Power
  • Parrot Anafi
  • Parrot Anafi USA

Common Causes

  • Propeller obstruction (debris caught in motor)
  • Damaged or bent propeller creating unbalanced load
  • Motor bearing worn after a crash
  • Motor controller fault after water exposure
  • Firmware error misreporting a healthy motor

How to Fix It

  1. Power off and inspect all four motors and propellers.

Spin each propeller by hand. Any motor that doesn't spin freely, grinds, or wobbles has a problem.

  2. Remove any debris caught in the motor housing.

Grass, hair, and fine sand are common culprits. Use tweezers or a soft brush. Blow compressed air into the housing carefully.

  3. Replace any damaged propeller.

Parrot Anafi and Bebop 2 have quick-release or snap-on propellers. Carry spare props — they are inexpensive and light.

  4. Update firmware via FreeFlight 6.

A firmware bug can sometimes cause false motor error reports. Update and test the motors on the ground before flying.

  5. If the motor itself is damaged, contact Parrot support.

Parrot drones are not designed for user motor replacement. Contact Parrot support at parrot.com/support for repair options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I replace a Parrot Anafi motor myself?

The Anafi's compact design makes motor replacement very difficult without specialist tools. Parrot's design philosophy favours factory repair over user servicing. For out-of-warranty repairs, some third-party repair services handle Parrot drones.
