Strong Wind Warning

Parrot Drone

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Strong Wind Warning means the drone is detecting wind that is challenging its stabilisation system. The drone may drift, struggle to hold position, or consume battery faster. Land as soon as it is safe to do so.

Affected Models

  • Parrot Anafi
  • Parrot Anafi USA
  • Parrot Bebop 2
  • Parrot Bebop 2 Power

Common Causes

  • Wind speed exceeding the drone's rated wind resistance
  • Gusts in otherwise calm conditions
  • Flying at high altitude where wind is stronger
  • Turbulence near buildings, trees, or terrain features

How to Fix It

  1. Reduce altitude — wind is stronger higher up.

Flying lower (while maintaining safe clearance from obstacles) usually means calmer air.

  2. Point the drone into the wind for better control.

A headwind is more controllable than a crosswind or tailwind. Rotate the drone to face into the wind.

  3. Plan your return flight path upwind.

A common mistake: flying downwind quickly then struggling to return against the wind on low battery. Always plan to return upwind.

  4. Land if control becomes difficult.

The Parrot Anafi is rated for up to 50 km/h (31 mph) wind resistance. If the drone is visibly struggling, land immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

How wind-resistant is the Parrot Anafi compared to DJI?

The Parrot Anafi is rated at up to 50 km/h (31 mph, Wind Force 6). The DJI Mini 3 Pro is rated at 10.7 m/s (38.5 km/h). The DJI Mavic 3 is rated at 12 m/s (43 km/h). For very windy conditions, larger drones generally perform better.
