WiFi Not Connecting

Parrot Drone

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

The Parrot Anafi creates its own Wi-Fi hotspot — your phone connects directly to the drone, not your home router. If FreeFlight 6 cannot connect, forget the drone's Wi-Fi network on your phone and reconnect.

Affected Models

  • Parrot Anafi
  • Parrot Anafi USA
  • Parrot Bebop 2
  • Parrot Bebop 2 Power

Common Causes

  • Phone still connected to home Wi-Fi — not switched to the drone hotspot
  • Drone hotspot password not entered correctly
  • Phone OS changed Wi-Fi settings — auto-reconnect overriding the drone connection
  • Drone firmware crashed — hotspot not broadcasting
  • Conflicting drone SSID with another Parrot drone nearby

How to Fix It

  1. Power on the drone and wait for the LED to turn solid green.

The Parrot Anafi broadcasts its own Wi-Fi hotspot once fully booted. The LED at the back of the drone turns solid green when the hotspot is ready.

  2. Open your phone Wi-Fi settings and connect to the drone's network.

The drone's SSID appears as 'ANAFI_XXXXXX' (Anafi) or 'Bebop2_XXXXXX' (Bebop 2). The default password is printed on the sticker inside the battery compartment.

  3. Forget the drone's network and reconnect if previously saved.

In your phone's Wi-Fi settings, tap the drone network name → Forget. Then reconnect and re-enter the password. This clears any saved credentials that may have become corrupted.

  4. Disable mobile data on your phone while connecting to the drone.

Some phones automatically switch away from Wi-Fi networks without internet. On Android: disable mobile data before connecting to the drone. On iPhone: accept the 'No Internet' prompt and tap Stay Connected.

  5. Power cycle the drone if the hotspot is not visible.

If the drone's Wi-Fi SSID does not appear in the phone's network list, power off the drone, wait 15 seconds, and power back on. A firmware crash can stop the hotspot from broadcasting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Parrot Anafi use a dedicated controller or just a phone?

The Parrot Anafi uses a physical controller (included) that houses your phone. The phone runs FreeFlight 6 and connects to the drone via the controller's Wi-Fi bridge. Some users fly using only a phone without the controller in ANAFI close-range mode.

What is the Wi-Fi range of the Parrot Anafi?

The Parrot Anafi has a maximum Wi-Fi range of 4 km in ideal open conditions. In practice, with interference and obstacles, expect 1–2 km of reliable connection.
