High Temperature Warning
Ryze Tello Drone
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
High Temperature Warning means the Tello's internal temperature has exceeded safe limits. This can happen on hot days or during continuous flight. Land and let it cool down.
Affected Models
- Ryze Tello
- Ryze Tello EDU
Common Causes
- Flying in ambient temperatures above 30°C (86°F)
- Consecutive flights without rest periods between batteries
- Direct sunlight on the drone while landed between flights
- Blocked ventilation from debris inside the housing
How to Fix It
-
Land immediately and power off.
Heat damages LiPo batteries and internal electronics. Do not keep flying through a temperature warning.
-
Let the Tello cool in the shade for 10–15 minutes.
Do not place it in direct sunlight while cooling. A breezy shaded spot is ideal.
-
Allow a rest period between battery changes.
Back-to-back flights heat the motors and electronics. Wait 5–10 minutes between flights in warm weather.
-
Avoid flying in temperatures above 30°C.
Ryze rates the Tello for 0–30°C operation. Above this range, performance degrades and the temperature warning becomes more frequent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Tello auto-land if it overheats?
The Tello will refuse to take off when the high temperature warning is active. If the warning appears mid-flight, it will continue flying but logs the event. Land manually — do not ignore the warning.
