Frequently Asked Questions

Duraflame fireplace heats for a few minutes then stops — why?

Intermittent heating that cuts out after a few minutes indicates the thermal protection sensor is tripping due to restricted airflow. Clear the air vents and ensure 30 cm of clearance around the unit.

Duraflame fireplace flame works on low setting but not high heat — cause?

On the high heat (1500W) setting, the thermal protection is more sensitive. Ensure the vents are fully clear. Also check that the mains socket can supply 1500W — plug directly into a wall socket rather than an extension lead.

Duraflame brand new and not heating — could it be defective?

On a new unit, first confirm that the heat mode is selected and the thermostat is above room temperature. If these are correct and no heat is produced, the unit has a manufacturing defect. Return it for a replacement within the retailer's return window.
