Bluetooth Not Connecting / App Won't Pair

Segway-Ninebot Electric Scooter

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Segway-Ninebot Bluetooth pairing failures are usually caused by the scooter still being bound to a previous user's account or app cache issues. Force-close the app, clear its cache, and use the Unbind Scooter option before re-pairing.

Affected Models

  • Ninebot KickScooter MAX G30
  • Ninebot KickScooter E2
  • Ninebot KickScooter F2
  • Segway Ninebot MAX G2
  • Ninebot KickScooter P65

Common Causes

  • Scooter already bound to a different Segway-Ninebot account and not properly released
  • App cache corrupted — stored pairing data conflicts with a fresh connection
  • Phone Bluetooth in a stuck state from a previous pairing attempt
  • Scooter firmware needs update — older versions have Bluetooth stability issues
  • Phone too far from the scooter during the pairing handshake

How to Fix It

  1. Force-close and reopen the Segway-Ninebot app.

Swipe the Segway-Ninebot app out of recent apps on your phone to fully close it. Toggle phone Bluetooth off and back on. Reopen the app and attempt to connect with the scooter powered on and within 1 metre of the phone.

  2. Unbind the scooter from the current account.

In the app, go to the scooter settings and look for an Unbind or Remove Device option. Unbinding clears the account linkage and allows a fresh pairing from scratch. If you purchased the scooter second-hand, the previous owner must unbind it from their account first.

  3. Clear the app cache on your phone.

On Android: go to Settings > Apps > Segway-Ninebot > Storage > Clear Cache. On iPhone: delete and reinstall the app. A corrupted app cache stores stale device pairing data that blocks new connections.

  4. Forget the scooter in the phone's Bluetooth settings.

Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and find any Ninebot or Segway device in the paired or known devices list. Tap Forget or Unpair. Return to the app and attempt a fresh pair from the Add Device screen.

  5. Update the app and scooter firmware.

Install the latest version of the Segway-Ninebot app from the app store. Once connected via a temporary Bluetooth link, check for and install any available scooter firmware update. Outdated firmware versions have documented Bluetooth connectivity issues that updates resolve.

When to Call a Professional

If the scooter Bluetooth module does not appear in the phone's Bluetooth scan after a factory reset, the Bluetooth hardware in the scooter controller may be faulty. Contact Segway-Ninebot support.
