Battery Not Charging

Xiaomi Electric Scooter

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

If the Xiaomi scooter is not charging, the charger, charging port, or BMS may be the issue. Check the charger LED, clean the charging port, and try a different outlet.

Affected Models

  • Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2
  • Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3
  • Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 4

Common Causes

  • Charger not plugged in fully
  • Charging port dirty or corroded
  • Charger LED not turning red (charger fault)
  • BMS locked from over-discharge
  • Charging cable damaged

How to Fix It

  1. Check the charger LED.

Green when plugged into wall only. Red when charging the scooter. If it stays green when connected to the scooter, the scooter is not accepting charge.

  2. Clean the charging port.

Use compressed air or a toothpick to remove debris from the scooter's charging port.

  3. Try a different wall outlet.

The outlet may be switched off or faulty.

  4. If the scooter was stored with a dead battery: leave it plugged in for 4+ hours.

A deeply discharged BMS needs time to recover. The charger may take hours before the BMS allows charging to begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a full charge take?

About 5-8 hours depending on the model and battery size.

Can I use a third-party charger?

Use only chargers with the correct voltage and connector. Wrong voltage can damage the battery or BMS.
