Display Not Working
Xiaomi Electric Scooter
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Xiaomi scooter display not working is usually caused by a loose dashboard connector at the stem junction or a completely discharged battery. Check the battery level first — if the scooter won't charge either, suspect the wiring at the stem fold point.
Affected Models
- Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter
- Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro
- Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2
- Xiaomi Mi Scooter 3
- Xiaomi Mi Scooter 4 Pro
Common Causes
- Battery fully discharged — no power available for the display
- Dashboard connector loose or disconnected at the handlebar stem junction
- Display cable pinched or broken inside the stem after repeated folding
- Display unit physically damaged by impact
- Water damage to the display module
How to Fix It
-
Charge the scooter.
If the battery is completely flat, the display will not activate. Connect the charger and wait 15 minutes. The display should light up once the battery has enough charge to power the controller and display.
-
Check the dashboard connector at the stem.
The display cable runs through the handlebar stem and connects via a small multi-pin connector near the stem fold joint. Unfold the stem, locate the connector housing, and ensure both halves are fully pressed together. A partial connection will leave the display blank.
-
Inspect the cable for damage.
The cable that runs from the display down to the controller passes through a tight bend at the stem fold. Repeated folding can crack the cable insulation over time. Look for any visible kinks, cuts, or exposed wires along the cable path.
-
Perform a hard reset.
Hold the power button and the brake lever simultaneously for 5 seconds. This performs a controller reset on some Xiaomi firmware versions. The display should turn on and show the startup animation if successful.
When to Call a Professional
If the battery charges normally and the connector is seated, but the display remains blank, the display module may need replacement. Contact a Xiaomi service center.
