Error 15
Xiaomi Electric Scooter
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Error 15 on a Xiaomi scooter means the scooter is locked — either through the Mi Home app, the anti-theft lock was triggered, or the scooter lost its pairing. Unlock it through the app or re-pair it.
Affected Models
- Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter
- Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro
- Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2
- Xiaomi Mi Scooter 3
- Xiaomi Mi Scooter 4 Pro
Common Causes
- Scooter locked via the Mi Home app (anti-theft mode)
- Scooter not paired to any account after a factory reset
- Scooter moved or tilted while locked, triggering motion alarm
- Attempting to ride a scooter registered to another account
- Firmware glitch causing a false lock state
How to Fix It
-
Unlock via the Mi Home / Xiaomi Home app.
Open the app, select your scooter, and look for the Lock / Unlock toggle. If the lock is active, tap Unlock. Stand next to the scooter so Bluetooth connects automatically.
-
Check if the scooter is paired to your account.
If the scooter shows as locked but you can't see it in the app, it may be registered to a different account. This happens with second-hand scooters — the previous owner needs to remove it from their account first.
-
Re-pair the scooter in the Mi Home app.
In the app: Add Device → select your scooter model → follow pairing steps. The scooter must be within Bluetooth range.
-
Factory reset as a last resort.
Hold the power button and the brake simultaneously for 5 seconds (procedure varies by model — check your manual). A factory reset removes all account pairing. Re-pair with your account afterwards.
-
If the scooter is second-hand, contact Xiaomi support.
A scooter locked to someone else's account cannot be unlocked without Xiaomi's help. Provide proof of purchase to [email protected] or via the app's Help section.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can someone else unlock my Xiaomi scooter?
Only the account owner can unlock it via the app. The anti-theft lock is one of the scooter's best security features — without app access, the scooter physically cannot be ridden.
