Bluetooth Not Connecting

Bowflex Fitness Equipment

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Bowflex Bluetooth connection failures are usually caused by the device being paired to a different phone, being out of range, or the app needing an update. Forget the device in your phone's Bluetooth settings and re-pair.

Affected Models

  • Bowflex Bike C6
  • Bowflex Bike VeloCore
  • Bowflex Treadmill 10
  • Bowflex Treadmill 22
  • Bowflex Max Trainer M9

Common Causes

  • Machine already paired to another phone or tablet
  • Phone's Bluetooth off or in aeroplane mode
  • JRNY app needs updating
  • Machine Bluetooth module needs a reset
  • Too many Bluetooth devices paired — some machines have a limit

How to Fix It

  1. Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and forget the Bowflex device.

Open Settings → Bluetooth → tap the Bowflex device → Forget. This removes the old pairing so you can create a fresh one.

  2. Ensure no other device is actively connected.

Bowflex equipment connects to one device at a time. If another phone or tablet is connected, it blocks new connections. Disconnect or turn off Bluetooth on the other device.

  3. Update the JRNY app.

The Bowflex JRNY app handles Bluetooth connectivity for most Bowflex equipment. Update via the App Store or Google Play.

  4. Power cycle the machine.

Unplug for 30 seconds and plug back in. This resets the Bluetooth module and clears any stuck pairing state.

  5. Re-pair with the JRNY app.

Open JRNY → Equipment → Add Equipment → follow the on-screen pairing steps. Stay within 1 metre of the machine during pairing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Bowflex C6 work with third-party fitness apps?

Yes — the Bowflex C6 supports Bluetooth cadence, speed, and power output data that works with Zwift, Peloton Digital, Apple Fitness+, and other apps. Connect via the app's device search rather than the JRNY app for third-party use.
