Display Not Working
Bowflex Fitness Equipment
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
A blank or frozen Bowflex display is almost always a power or software issue. Unplug the equipment for 60 seconds and plug back in — this resets the console and fixes most cases.
Affected Models
- Bowflex Treadmill 10
- Bowflex Treadmill 22
- Bowflex Bike C6
- Bowflex Bike VeloCore
- Bowflex Max Trainer M9
- Bowflex SelectTech 552
Common Causes
- Console frozen after a software crash
- Power surge tripping internal protection
- Loose power cable connection
- Console firmware needs updating
- Faulty power supply to the console
- Display backlight failure (older machines)
How to Fix It
-
Unplug the machine from the wall for 60 seconds.
This fully discharges the capacitors and resets the console. Plug back in, wait for the display to initialise, and test.
-
Check the power cable is fully plugged in.
Check both ends — the wall socket and the machine's power inlet. A partially inserted cable can supply intermittent power causing display issues.
-
Reset the console.
On most Bowflex machines: press and hold the Stop button for 10 seconds. This performs a soft console reset without losing settings.
-
Check for a firmware update.
Connect the console to Wi-Fi and check for a pending firmware update. On Bowflex connected equipment: Settings → System Update.
-
Contact Bowflex support.
If the display remains blank after a power cycle, the console may have failed hardware. Bowflex support at bowflex.com — machines under warranty qualify for free console replacement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does unplugging a Bowflex reset my workout data?
Unplugging resets the active session but does not delete stored workout history. Workout history is saved to the Bowflex app account, which is cloud-stored and not affected by a power cycle.
