How to Fix It
-
Update the JRNY app in the App Store or Google Play.
Most JRNY connection bugs are fixed in app updates. Open the store, search for JRNY, and install any available update.
-
Force-close the JRNY app and restart it.
On iPhone: swipe up from the bottom and swipe the JRNY card away. On Android: tap recent apps and swipe JRNY away. Then open it fresh.
-
Toggle Bluetooth off and on on your phone.
Settings → Bluetooth → off → wait 10 seconds → on. This clears stale Bluetooth connections that can block JRNY.
-
Forget the machine in your phone's Bluetooth settings and re-pair.
Settings → Bluetooth → find the Bowflex machine → Forget. Then open JRNY and pair the machine again from scratch.
-
Reinstall the JRNY app.
Delete the app, reinstall from the store, and sign in again. Your workout history is saved to your JRNY account — reinstalling does not delete it.
When to Call a Professional
If JRNY still cannot connect after reinstalling and the machine passes a Bluetooth test, the machine's Bluetooth module may be faulty. Contact Bowflex support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the JRNY app required to use a Bowflex bike?
No. You can use most Bowflex bikes and treadmills without the JRNY app. The machine's built-in console provides speed, resistance, and workout controls. JRNY adds guided workouts, scenic rides, and workout history tracking.
Why does JRNY keep losing connection mid-workout?
Bluetooth interference is the most common cause. Move your phone within 1–2 metres of the machine and remove nearby wireless devices. Check that your phone's battery saver mode is not turning off Bluetooth during workouts.
