WiFi Not Connecting
NordicTrack Treadmill / Elliptical / Bike
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
NordicTrack WiFi problems are almost always caused by the machine being too far from the router, the router using a 5GHz-only network (NordicTrack requires 2.4GHz), or an iFit account authentication issue. Move the machine closer to the router and ensure 2.4GHz is available.
Affected Models
- NordicTrack Commercial 1750
- NordicTrack Commercial 2450
- NordicTrack S22i Studio Cycle
- NordicTrack EXP 7i
- NordicTrack Vault
Common Causes
- Machine too far from the WiFi router — weak signal in a garage or basement
- Router broadcasting 5GHz only — NordicTrack consoles require 2.4GHz
- iFit login session expired — requires re-authentication
- Router using WPA3 security only — older consoles may need WPA2
- Firewall or parental controls on the router blocking iFit servers
- Console software (Android) needs an update to fix connectivity bugs
How to Fix It
-
Confirm your router broadcasts a 2.4GHz network.
NordicTrack iFit consoles connect to 2.4GHz WiFi only. Many modern routers combine 2.4GHz and 5GHz under one SSID — the machine should connect automatically to 2.4GHz in this setup. If your router has 5GHz only mode enabled, enable 2.4GHz or create a separate 2.4GHz SSID for the machine.
-
Move the machine or router closer together, or add a WiFi extender.
NordicTrack machines are often in garages or basements with poor WiFi coverage. The console needs a strong signal — at least 2 bars. A WiFi range extender placed halfway between the router and the machine usually resolves weak-signal connectivity issues.
-
Forget the network on the console and reconnect.
On the console touchscreen, go to Settings > WiFi. Tap the network name and select Forget. Then select the network again and re-enter the password. This clears any cached connection state that may be blocking the connection.
-
Sign out of iFit and sign back in.
Go to the iFit app on the console, sign out of your account, and sign back in. Expired authentication tokens cause iFit to show as disconnected even when WiFi is working correctly.
-
Check for and install console software updates.
NordicTrack consoles run a version of Android. Go to Settings > About > System Update and check for updates. Software updates often include WiFi and iFit connectivity fixes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my NordicTrack connect to WiFi but iFit still shows offline?
WiFi connected but iFit offline means the machine is reaching the internet but iFit's servers cannot authenticate your account. Sign out of iFit on the console and sign back in. Also check iFit's status page (status.ifit.com) to rule out a server outage.
My NordicTrack connects to WiFi at home but not at my hotel — is that normal?
Yes. Hotels use captive portal WiFi (where you must open a browser and accept terms before connecting). NordicTrack consoles cannot interact with captive portals. Hotspot from your phone using the phone's mobile data as a direct WiFi network is the workaround.
