Metrics Not Tracking
Peloton Exercise Bike
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Metrics not tracking means the screen is not receiving data from the bike's sensors. Resistance, cadence, and output may show zero or be stuck. This is usually a loose cable connection between the bike frame and the tablet.
Affected Models
- Peloton Bike
- Peloton Bike+
Common Causes
- Cable between bike and tablet loose or disconnected
- Sensor magnet misaligned on the flywheel
- Tablet not properly seated in the mount
- Software glitch
- Sensor hardware failure
How to Fix It
-
Check the cable connection behind the screen.
The screen connects to the bike via a cable at the back. Make sure it is firmly plugged in on both ends.
-
Restart the Peloton.
Hold power for 10 seconds, then restart. Metric sensors often reconnect after a restart.
-
Recalibrate the bike.
Settings > Device Settings > Bike Calibration. Follow the on-screen instructions.
-
If metrics are still stuck: contact Peloton support.
A failed sensor or magnet requires a technician visit. Peloton offers in-home service for hardware issues.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Peloton measure resistance?
The bike uses a magnetic resistance system with sensors that measure how much force you are applying. The tablet reads these sensors to display your resistance level and power output.
Can I recalibrate at home?
Yes. The calibration tool came with the bike (a small hex wrench). Follow the in-app calibration procedure.
