Touchscreen Not Responding

Peloton Exercise Bike / Tread

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

A frozen Peloton touchscreen means the Android-based tablet has crashed. Hold the power button on the back for 10 seconds to force a restart. Sweat on the screen can also cause touch issues.

Affected Models

  • Peloton Bike
  • Peloton Bike+
  • Peloton Tread
  • Peloton Tread+
  • Peloton Row

Common Causes

  • Software crash — tablet frozen
  • Sweat or moisture on the screen causing phantom touches
  • Screen protector interfering with touch sensitivity
  • Software update interrupted
  • Hardware failure (rare)

How to Fix It

  1. Hold the power button (back of screen) for 10 seconds.

This forces a hard restart. The Peloton logo will appear as it reboots.

  2. Wipe sweat and moisture off the screen.

Sweat causes phantom touches and unresponsive areas. Wipe with a dry microfiber cloth.

  3. Remove any screen protector.

Thick or bubbled screen protectors reduce touch sensitivity. If touch works without it, get a thinner protector.

  4. Check for software updates after restart.

Settings > Device Settings > About > check for updates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the power button on the Peloton?

On the back of the touchscreen, usually at the top. It is a small physical button — not on the screen itself.

Is the Peloton screen a regular Android tablet?

Yes. Peloton runs a customised version of Android. The same restart and troubleshooting steps apply as for any Android device.
